Andrea S. Wilson, Executive Director
New Milford VNA & Hospice’s results are worth sharing, so I’m going to cut right to the chase. For the last ten years, we have ranked among the top agencies. Out of 9,718 home health agencies in the United States, only 131 agencies share our level of excellence. This puts us in the top 1% nationwide.Every profession has its industry gold standard. Excellent chefs earn Michelin stars. Innovative and pioneering journalists garner Pulitzer prizes. The Nobel Prize honors a broad spectrum of human achievement. And Medicare-certified home health agencies are rated by HomeCare Elite, a recognition program that measures and ranks patient outcomes and agency performance nationwide.
Let me be honest. This level of performance doesn’t happen magically. It happens when you have committed employees who exemplify the words of the writer Maya Angelou: “People will forget what you did. People will forget what you said, but will never forget how you made them feel.”
When our nurses and therapists enter your home, they make a commitment to you and your family. They make a personal connection. They make a promise. They bring a level of experience and expertise to help with recovery and quality of life. And they bring results!
In this day and age, healthcare outcomes are being measured and scrutinized. Yes, we have a four star designation by Medicare. Yes, our hospital readmission rate is the lowest in the area. And yes, we rank in the top 1% of agencies nationwide. But it isn’t enough just to look at our report card. We need to keep striving for continued excellence. So, this week our staff participated in a “customer service boot camp” because good service is what gives us that final polish. Everyone who works here at New Milford VNA & Hospice goes above and beyond simply signing the employee handbook. And if we’re not living up to top national standards, I want to know.
It is our pleasure to serve you, and be part of this community, as we have for the past 97 years.
